South Park Gardens is a much loved and well-used park in Wimbledon in the London Borough of Merton. It was opened in September 1901 and was restored to its Victorian glory in June 2009 thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Click here to read more.

The Friends of South Park Gardens is a registered charity, working for the restoration and improvement of South Park Gardens for the benefit of the community. We’re a small committee of dedicated volunteers and trustees.

Compound refurbishment completedLeaves

The refurbishment of the compound was the final stage in the restoration of South Park Gardens funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the London Borough of Merton (LBM). The refurbished compound includes: new toilets, storage for the Friends and gardeners, a kiosk and a Friends’ room.

The building has a green roof and while being of a modern design it is painted in the same palette of heritage colours currently used in the Gardens. The area around the new building will shortly be landscaped in sympathy with the original restoration plans.
