South Park Gardens is a much loved and tranquil oasis just a short walk from the centre of Wimbledon.

South Park Gardens
The Gardens were opened in 1901 with flower beds, trees and a beautiful design of interlacing paths. Over the years they lost the metal railings, the bandstand was removed and the benches were frequently broken. This decline reached its nadir in the early 2000s, but then a group of local residents formed The Friends of South Park Gardens. After a long campaign the gardens were restored to their Victorian glory in 2009 with the help of Merton Council and a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
